When you install a new San Diego solar panel system on your home you may think that during power outages you will still have power for your home. Unfortunately this isn’t necessarily true. The only way to install new solar panels and get off the grid is to store the excess electricity in high power batter backups. That way when your panels produce electricity it gets stored on the batter backups. THe battery storage system which can be very expensive, primarily because the technology is not that common place to-date. Howevr, the good news is that it can certainly be done.
One of the benefits of being on the grid is that if you overproduce power the utility company will pay you for over production of that power. To do this you would setup a net metering agreement. For San Diego residence this would be setup through SDG&E.
